So I am still working on my summer wrap/shawl, it seems to be taking forever because the pain in my wrists is slowing my progress. No worries, it will be done in the next week and then I can start on my next summer wearable project that I am so excited to start.
Miss RubyJ picked out the fabric and the color of this very soft, 100% cotton yarn. She wanted pink, she always wants pink, but she ended up a little smitten with this teal. I purchased a yard and a half of fabric and two, 3.5 ounce skeins of yarn for $12 at Hobby Lobby. I kind of have issues with the store, but they have the best inexpensive soft cotton collection in my area and it was on sale. They also have a constant 40% off any one regular item coupon on their website, so I had to take advantage and go. I love the colors, I think it is going to be gorgeous!

It is so simple and pretty. I have found a few other patterns that do the yoke at the top of the dress a little differently and I haven’t decided yet. Granny squares are so easy to work with, but I’m not sure about the coverage and kind of like the idea of one solid piece also. We’ll see what happens.
I am a little nervous about the sewing part of the project. I have a sewing machine that I haven’t used in a decade and somehow, I have misplaced the user’s manual. I am actually a good hand sewer and the bother of the machine always convinces me to do all my projects by hand. But because this is going to be a garment, I’m thinking it needs to be more durable and it would definitely be so much easier on the machine. We’ll see if I can remember how to thread the thing!
