Share Your World – December 18, 2017

Here are the questions and my answers for this week’s Share Your World Challenge by Cee’s Blog.

If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?

Definitely cleaning. It is not my least favorite thing to do, but it is always the last thing on my to-do list to get done. And no matter what, the house never feels fully clean with a dog, a cat, two men and a 4th grader. But I know I’d be one of those nightmare clients who is never satisfied, lol.

If you were to move and your home came fully furnished with everything you ever wanted, list at least three things from your old house you wish to retain?

I would hate a furnished home. Seriously, the things that I place in my home are very eclectic and just about everything has a story for me. I could get rid of most of these things, but I wouldn’t want my home filled with meaningless things, even if they were beautiful, comfortable and free.

I have a thing for carved wood, in the form of furniture, masks and statues…all of those pieces would have to come with me. This pair of chairs has a funny story behind it, from when my parents were young, living in NYC. I don’t want to implicate them in any shady activity, so I’ll just keep that story to myself. 😉

My sister an I named them the King and Queen chairs and my mother gave them to me when I moved into this house. I refinished the Queen chair myself, it was seatless most of my childhood. They aren’t the most comfortable seats in the house, but I can’t imagine my home without them, I am very attached to them.

What calms you down?

Crocheting, a cup of hot tea, my dog sensing that I am on edge and coming up to me with a whole body wiggle to sweetly kiss my face. My dog’s super power is empathy, she could easily be a therapy dog. When I am out of the house, certain smells can calm me, sandalwood oil, strawberry lip balm, and shea/coconut hand lotion.

What inspired you or what did you appreciate this past week?

Last week I had a lunch with a friend I haven’t seen in years, but have known for more than 20. She inspires me. She has always inspired me, because she is kind of a bad ass, a strong woman with a strong mind. After we met, she sent me a text to remind me that I too, am kind of a bad ass, even if hard times tried to tell me otherwise.

I appreciate her and our friendship enormously. ❤

Have a great week!
